Which form of supplement is a better choice? Some people prefer capsules, while others prefer tablets and other forms. Some may not care. However, if you carefully examine the differences, you will notice that supplements in capsule form are preferable to tablets.
Capsules are a better choice when it comes to better absorption and assimilation. Let’s take a look at the reasons why supplements in capsule form are better.
1- Capsules are easier to digest.
Capsules are easier for the stomach to digest than tablets, which provide an increase in the bioavailability of dietary ingredients compared to tablets. Eating foods that are easily digestible and absorbable is a wise choice. I recommend eating softer, juicer foods rather than dry foods.
Stronger stomach acid is required to break down and digest the tablet; otherwise, the tablets will be heavy on the body, causing stomach discomfort, and may not break down properly, especially if you have a weak digestive system. Because of the higher efficiency rate, capsules are a better choice.
2- Capsules have a higher bioavailability than tablets.
Over the last two decades, I’ve discovered that capsules are more bioavailable and efficient than tablets. People with low stomach acid will have a lower bioavailability rate because they cannot properly break down the tablets. especially if the tablets are large. Capsules are 20–30% more bioavailable and contain more vitamins and minerals. This is also dependent on the product’s quality.
3- Tablets contain more additives than other supplement forms.
When you examine how the tablet is made, you will notice that more materials are used to create a tablet, so keep in mind that you will also put them into your body and expect your liver to filter the toxic stuff. Harmful ingredients can do more harm than good to your body, particularly if you are not in good health and have a sensitive stomach.
Acne may occur in some people after taking multivitamins in tablet form. This is because your body cannot break down the entire tablet, and unabsorbed material causes inflammation in people with acne, sensitive digestive systems, and immune systems. It is also due to your liver working harder.
4- You can always pop the capsule open.
The advantage of the capsule is that it can always be opened and used as a powder. Mix the powder into your smoothie or drink it with water or juice. If the whole capsule causes stomach discomfort due to the higher dose, split it and save the other half of the capsule for later use. In recent years, I’ve begun opening the capsules and putting them in my water or smoothies to improve efficiency and absorption.
But it doesn’t make a big difference and I think you don’t need to open capsules. Capsules quickly dissolve in your stomach faster and better than hard tablets.
5- Capsule Absorbs Better
Yes, because capsules are easier for the body to break down, they can be absorbed faster in the gut than tablets. As a result, you get more bang for your buck, and your body uses less energy. Capsules have a higher absorption and assimilation rate than tablets and do not cause stomach distress.
6- Some capsules are suitable for vegans.
If you are a vegan looking for vegan-friendly supplements, capsules are a better option. Vegan capsules have become more widely available in recent years. Vegans would benefit from capsules as well.
7- Tablets degrade and lose potency.
Another thing to keep in mind is that some supplements in tablet form will go bad quicker if left unused for months, especially in higher temperatures. It can turn yellow, smell or easily degrade and melt.
